Building pippin – an ICF house

Building pippin – an interesting 18 months

Build of this ICF house started in February 2014 and completion end of July 2015. The house has been built using modern energy saving building products – built from polystyrene blocks filled with concrete and steel. Ultra insulated and solid you will find it so comfortable you won’t want to leave. If you happen to be thinking about building a house yourself and are toying with this type of modern building product then book a stay, try it out and talk to someone who has learnt a lot and can point you in the right direction. With this system of building the timescale to completion would normally be shorter but difficulty of access when clearing the site and bringing in materials extended the time pippin took to build. As a first time full build from start to finish this was a steep, but interesting, learning curve.
